Just a turn of phrase, and how it's written in the accounts! ;)

Just scored a bit of a blinder for mortar round boxes. Picked up four of these for £1.95 each INCLUDING shipping from Springfields! I'm gonna slap some green paint on 'em when they arrive.

edit

David, do you want some silica gel to stick with any spare pyro to keep them all dry? I've got sacks of the stuff at work...

Silica won't hurt - central heated building though! Sounds like you got the boxes free and £8 postage! (I've past that pallet a hundred times...)

BTW, I was going to get a bunch of jerry cans but had a brainwave - my last working processing machine has six spare 15l containers inside. They are white plastic but I'll slap some OD on 'em so that's another bit of cash saved...

Sounds like a good plan to me. I'll have a hunt round work, see what drums I can dig up (then work out if I've got enough space in the car to fit em in around all the other crap i'm bringing up lol)

On the subject of pyro, I have got to fill in the risk assessment for the AFRA members.
The form has changed from previous, before it was all 'tick the box' but now the pyro section has to be scratch written. I have made an attempt, could you check it over please Jay for errors/omissions?

Battle pyrotechnic display
RISK:
Burns, hearing damage, body strikes by flying debris, brush fire

RISK CONTROL:
Display pyrotechnics triggered electrically are in a fixed position and remote from players and public and placed in a restricted area.
Triggering is by manual control (with key locked safety) and pyro site is in full vision of firer.
Players will be warned of the area.
Minimum of 10m away from personnel
Pyro supplied by approved supplier, TLSFX.
Display prepared and fired by trained organisers.
First aid kit and fire extinguisher available.

RISK IF CONTROLS ARE ADHERED TO:
Low/negligible

Battle hand-thrown pyro
RISK:
Burns, hearing damage, brush fire

RISK CONTROL:
Standard unmodified TLSFX pyro designed for the purpose to be used
(ball grenades, mk5 & 9 thunderflashes, thermobaric, smoke)
Players to be warned about throwing directly at people
Blank firing grenades may be used up to 12 gauge but thrown underarm only

RISK IF CONTROLS ARE ADHERED TO:
Low/negligible

Battle launched pyro
RISK:
Burns, hearing damage, physical injury, brush fire

RISK CONTROL:
Standard unmodified TLSFX pyro designed for the purpose to be used
Users instructed on correct usage - only designated personnel may be users

RISK IF CONTROLS ARE ADHERED TO:
Low/negligible

Right, 3 mortar rounds and the sleeve for the tube are being sorted. Pick up friday. It's all comes out at £80 + the VATmans cut. Cheapest I can get it all done for i'm afraid. The sleeve is having to be rolled and welded, not cut from stock tube, as the minimum order quantity for tube of the right size is 3 Metres @ £28.50 per metre, with a £25 delivery charge on top.

Bloody 'ek £28.50 per metre? No need for solid silver!

Heh, £100 is fine. So you will have to make a cut-out for the sleeve then? How is the round removal door going to work?

Ouch, I had to do it! Sorry Stephen, I deleted your post sharpish.

Announcing we have spent £600 on pyro isn't a good idea. Chaps weren't impressed with loose pyro at Bryansk and Husky and I'm sure they won't think £600 of their money is well spent. This isn't Beltring, it's a small airsoft game for which CiA gives value for money. It doesn't take a mathematician to work out they could have paid £20 and saved a tenner!

"this isn't Beltring"

Who you kidding?

Pyro, alcoholics, some stitch nazi's, some hideously out of shape people in WW2 uniforms (I include myself in that group) some retards, some conspiracy theorists, some nutters, people who can never stick to a plan.

It's just like Beltring!

Haha, you are right, it is just like Beltring - without the budget. And mud. And shower blocks that are dirtier and colder than the mud outside. etc.

Heh. No worries. I was just putting in a little hint as most of that pyro is going to be given straight back to them in the shape of mortar rounds and ball granades!

Chaps weren't impressed!? Who wasn't impressed with the pyro? Loads of people said they really loved the bangs.

No dramas but it's best that players don't even question what we spend, it has nothing to do with them. OK, after they have had their grenades we can tell them what we have given them back (if we are so inclined).

Check out the answers to your questions about pyro after Bryansk and Husky - confused and quizzical. Polite answers certainly, but not even many of them. I've had quiet questions too. Nothing to caue great concern but we must be careful. I would expect something fantastic for my £600 and we don't want to fail to meet expectations.
